It’s been exactly eight days since I launched Factual, my new fact-checking agency.
Since then, newsrooms and organizations that support journalists have reached out to book me for trainings. I went on national radio yesterday on 1A’s “Ask A…” series to talk about fact-checking. I’ve noticed that the way other people perceive my expertise has changed, even though on a day to day level, I still do the exact same things I did before I launched Factual. My level of skill, knowledge, and/or expertise hasn’t shifted drastically in the last eight days.
I believe this is a shift in public perception when someone sees you as the owner of something. Somehow, owning an agency now opens more doors than if I were just operating as my sole proprietor LLC. Owning an agency, somehow, gives me more credibility. I’m learning to welcome that.
Maybe you, too, are craving this kind of credibility that comes with scaling your business into an agency. Maybe it won’t happen in the near future, but it’s something you want later on in your career.
I invite you to TWC’s webinar next week: HOW TO GO FROM FREELANCER TO AGENCY OWNER. You can attend live and ask any burning questions you have. Regardless, registering for the event means you’ll get the recording delivered to your inbox the same day.
I hope to see you there!
